next one is muh favvvv <3

artist derek taylor.

a few weeks ago, i had the opportunity to work with derek taylor, an artist living in tennessee, but hailing from our own albany, ga. derek is an out-of-the-box kind of guy and these pics were for his - get this - upcoming art show, “canines, kilts & chili dogs”!   this show will feature derek’s paintings depicting hunting dogs. derek also has been known to don a kilt now and then, annnnnd…. there will be a chili dog tasting as part of the art show. so there ya have it!  canines, kilts & chili dogs is march 20th at 7p in the lancaster village in albany.  thanks derek, it was fun!!

this pic is used in derek’s ad for his show, and he posted it on his fb page… i saw a friend’s response - “i knew you had a sophisticated pallet, but 15 of them?” cracked me up!

in the pic on the left below, you can see the belt buckle that derek’s friend made.

March 8, 2010 - 8:26 pm robin cornett - Cool! Derek's friend wins the prize for most original comment--that's hilarious! Dig the last one especially, but they are all great. Hope the show is awesome!

March 8, 2010 - 5:31 pm Zak - If sweet belt buckles rule? That one is king of the land! Very cool and fitting shots! :)

March 8, 2010 - 5:26 pm Alicia - +1 for a kilt. that first picture is AMAZING!

tony & sandra & family!

we had such a great time downtown with this fun family!  i love how the pics show the kids’ very different personalities.  sandra and tony met in chicago.  sandra thought it was just a line when tony walked up and told her she looked familiar.  still, they talked for awhile she agreed to let him take her out sometime.  it was then they realized there was a reason sandra looked familiar to tony… they’re both from albany and even worked together at the same department store!  sandra said, “and he couldn’t stand me!” hahaha!

next=FAVVV <3

so here’s a brief description of the kids… that cool dude on the top left is q. he’s always making a tough guy face, even when he’s not posing for the camera, as you can see. but i also caught him being a really kind big bro to his little brother kj. so you know, he’s got his soft side too :)  then on the top right we have michael. i think it is so fitting that his name is michael.  he was always the one getting out of the line-up to take center stage, where he would usually bust out some awesome dance moves.  michael is so full of fun and it was clear he loves to make people laugh.  next up, on the bottom left, we have the lil guy, kj.  ummmm he is SO cute.  full of smiles and all around adorable.  it is really cute to watch him watch his older brothers and see how much he looks up to them.  and then, last but certainly not least, we have the lovely miss keira (spelled like keira knightly, got it?).  according to her mom, keira is all the drama.  keira has such a strong first-born personality, and she’s such an intelligent girl.  so now you know! :)

see, i told ya. there’s michael, the show-stopper! :)

i think the next pic should go by the title “shamone.”

FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ryan&ashlee: married!

we had so so so much fun at ryan and ashlee’s wedding.  ashlee was a stunning and very relaxed bride (our fav kind!) and her bridesmaids were super sweet and laid back too!  i loved that any time her mom had a question, she would call out, “smitten girls!” :)  and ryan and his people were great too, all just a laughing, laid-back group of people! our day with them went by so fast!  ashlee and ryan, congrats, we’re thrilled to have been part of your day, and i think the pics show everyone had an awesome time!

um… hey, we’re smitten and we like shoes. a lot.

ashlee’s top garter was her grandmother’s from when she got married!

private reveal time!!!!! we looooooove private reveals!

the family that lives across the street from the church have an AMAZING, beautiful historic home that they invited us to use for pictures, and they were so kind and gracious, allowed us to move furniture, asked if they could get us a drink and everything! they were awesome!

usually at weddings, amber hangs with the bride until it’s time to hit the aisle, and i go scope out a spot where the ceremony will take place… which proved to be our salvation in this case!!! i watched in amazement from my spot up front while, for 30 minutes, guests piled into the church until it was standing room only!  glad i found a good spot because i was tucked in tight til i heard man and wife!  i love how the next 2 shots coincide.

people are always amused if they catch us doing ring shots during the reception. us trying to set up the ring shot on the left makes me think of this philippe halsman portrait of salvador dali. :D

daddy&daughter, bride&groom, and mom&son dances

a friend played a song for ashlee and ryan, which was super cool! and then…..

THEN he invited the groom and groomsmen plus the bride and groom’s dads to sing a couple of songs with him. one of those songs was you never even called me by my name by david allen coe. if you’re not familiar with that little gem, i encourage you to click the link now to get the full effect of what’s going on in the images below.  most hilarious wedding moment yet. oh and did i mention there was audience participation? priceless.

amber had her eye on that little cutie over on the left and i think i sorta stalked that couple over on the right. we know cute people when we see ‘em!

poor ryan got a facefull of cake when he and ashlee ran out, like living through the arch of fire wasn’t enough! :D he was a good sport though!

March 6, 2010 - 10:47 am Zak - This wedding looks like a blast! Can I come crash one of your wedding? They always look so fun! Great work smitten!
