snowmageddon 2k10.

we sowegans went crazy. i mean CRAZY. it just does not do this here.  i remember when i was growing up, my parents had a framed print of a cotton boll, and where the cotton would normally be, there was a little patch of snow.  that was from the big snowfall of ‘70-something. maybe ‘76? so that was the last time anything like this happened.  and honestly, when everyone was buzzing thursday night, and one by one the schools were declaring a snow day for friday, i didn’t believe it was really gonna happen.  especially friday morning when we woke up to lots of rain, and the temperature wasn’t freezin bajeezin or anything.  then… some snowflakes began falling with that rain… then more snowflakes… then JUST snowflakes… then a TON of snowflakes… the temp began to drop and snow started sticking to the ground! we went crazy raiding our closets for every scrap of warmish clothing we own. snowball fights, snow angels, snowmen…. it was FUNNNN!!!!! and now, after the sun came out this morning…. it’s history. but what a fun and memorable snow day we had!! phoenix said he’ll remember this day for the rest of his life.:)

snow angel on the trampoline!!!

meanwhile… sparrow was very unimpressed.

angel felt right at home i’m sure

Ahh to be a kid again. I used to love snow as a kid, but now I only like the stuff on the ski hill.

once when i went to chicago, there was some snow on the ground, but i didn’t get to see it falling. we got to chicago and there were still patches of thick snow on the ground here and there. it snowed here once when i was a kid, but it was only some little flurries, and maybe like 1/4inch stuck on the ground (still i thought that was the coolest thing ever!) annnnnd i went on a youth group ski trip to gatlinburg when i was 15. thought surely i’d see some snow then, but nope… faux snow on the slopes. hahaha! so this is the first time i’ve ever seen both snow falling and sticking! and my kids had never seen ANY snow!
